A piece of the pi
The Somerville Mathematics Fund had its pi in the sky earlier this month. Well, maybe not in the sky, but at the A.D. Healey School on March 11, students from several middle schools got together to celebrate the magic number. Mathematics Fund founder Erica Dakin Voolich says pi was computed, estimations and predictions were made, pi songs were sung, and pi quizzes were taken. Participants dined on pizza pies and more than 275 Table Talk pies donated by the company. she said, "Ideally, we should have done it on the official pi night, which would have been Monday, but it's difficult to get 125 people out for a math night on a Monday."
